All these names came from the same origin, they have a common story in Greek legends. The brave boy, who dismembered the snake-haired devil Medusa, was the hero of this city, so the citizens decided to erect sculptures of their hero, thanks to all these icons around the city people named the region as ‘Ikonium’ with passing years that became ‘Konya’ .Descendants of the old Greek people lived in Sille till 1930s, today we will visit their stone-cut Hagia Irene Church in its original area. Pleasure-seeking Greek people settled in Sille because of its natural beauty and similarity of Cappadocia, in the trail of these people we will discover the village and have tea by the river which cuts the settlement into two parts. After a local lunch which includes tandir (bread baked in floor furnace) will make you full so you can have a rest on the way.
After visiting all these beautiful Greek sights we take one more step to our present day. Now its Seljuk Empire era, another pleasure-seeking community who came from Central Asia on horseback. In the wake of a long journey from Asia, ancestors of us settled in Beysehir, far more beautiful area than Sille with its famous Beysehir Lake. Just by the lake they built Kubad’abad Palace as a summer residence for Sultan even if it looks like a ruin now it worths seeing. In the centre of the city we come across a mosque, its called Esrefoglu Mosque, the mosque is the biggest, the best preserved wooden columned and roofed mosque in Islamic World. The 715 years witnessed collapses of states, empires and sultans but couldn’t beat it down. We will satisfy your history, nature and art curiosity in here, then we will move to Konya city center which whirls around the Green Tomb of Mevlana Jalal’eddin Rumi .

Leaving the city without visiting the teacher and the best friend of Mevlana will be illogical, so we drive to Sems-i Tebrizi Tomb, which is simple in comparison with the tomb of Mevlana Jalal’eddin Rumi. The man who made Rumi a poet and a man of love will affect you deeply. You will feel the divine love which embraces all the people from all around the world regardless of their religion, belief, race or identity..Overnight in Konya
